"A playful spirit, struggling to stay awake. A pensive look in the mother's face as if contemplating the future of her off spring whilst her child is still warm and secure, listening to her mother's heart beat. Something most human mothers can associate with.
Hard to believe that these fun loving, intelligent primates are now endangered. Many years of hunting and destruction of their habitat has brought them to the brink of extinction. What will we tell our children when they disappear?" ~ Daniel Taylor
With this painting I hope to impress upon the viewer the fragility of the natural world and how precious life is. The blended colours give a gentle feel to an image already emotionally charged. Moments like these reveal the long-term bonds that form in chimpanzee families, especially between mothers and children.
