After the wonderful success of Hope 4 Apes 2010 hosted by Sir David Attenborough at the Lyceum, Ape Alliance brings you Hope 4 Apes 2013 - changing the world of conservation with GAFI Pedal Power including a UK school tour followed by Hope 4 Apes at the Savoy.
Join them at the newly restored London Savoy on 27 September 2013.
Guests will enjoy a champagne reception followed by an a la carte dinner in the Lancaster Ballroom, live music and a celebrity auction. During the event renowned artist, Daniel Taylor, will be creating a spectacular piece of artwork that will then be auctioned at the end of the evening.
The Savoy's Parlour Room will be transformed into a forest. Ape Alliance is bringing GAFI Pedal Power Cinema to the Savoy, demonstrating the cinema system using the power of a humble bicycle to project an exclusive preview of the groundbreaking 3D documentary film "The Last of the Great Apes" due for cinema release in 2013. Guests will have the opportunity to generate electricity to power the GAFI field cinema and mingling with the world's leading conservationists.
Three hundred million people have been touched by the GAFI initiative, using cinema to promote the preservation of endangered animals. Pedal power brings the conservation message right into the heart of great ape habitats, to the remotest communities in Africa and South East Asia.
"In three weeks, over 12,000 people saw the films shown on the first Pedal-Powered Cinema. There is nothing I have ever seen to compare to the wonder in the eyes of tens of thousands of children as they watch the films," Madelaine Westwood, Director of GAFI.
Hope 4 Apes 2013 will raise funds to purchase a further 10 Pedal Power Cinema units to go to the most needed in the ape range states, in addition, working together with our Ape Allies, funding a further seven education outreach projects with Hope 4 Apes committee.
